Brendan Cooper is a country-based artist who is presently working in the expanded field of printmaking using theories such as natural and urban realism.
Brendan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Federation University Ballarat (distinction) as well as an Honours of Fine Arts from RMIT Melbourne (distinction) and is currently completing his Master of Fine Arts at RMIT.
A principal theme in Brendan’s work is exasperation of cities as a labyrinth. Brendan’s work creates a tension between both his conceptual idea and practical execution often resulting in large scale prints that apply a subtle application of colour.
Brendan has normally sourced his inspiration from anthropological writers such as Tim Ingold and Jorge Luis Borges. Overall, this approach to human society and culture helps strengthen and develop Brendan’s understanding and application of urban art.
